P3/M3


P3: Learners plan an original print based advertisement to be used as part of their planned campaign, including:

a) generation of appropriate ideas



  • Create an ideas blog post or spider diagram:  Make a note of at least three ideas for your campaign - what might be in the ads, what possible messages could you use to make people want to buy the product, what images would suggest this
  • Create a font sheet:  Explore possible fonts, use dafont and explain why some work better than others, decide on a final font
  • Create a colour sheet & mood board: Put a colour wheel on an A4 doc in Photoshop. Explore possible colours, referencing an existing campaign and your target audience, commenting on colour combinations, and deciding on which final colour scheme will work for your campaign and why
  • Sample layout plans: On paper to start with and then in Illustrator or Photoshop, plan the layout in a number of different ways before progressing your mock-ups/visualisation of ideas

b) competent preproduction materials and visualisations (mock-ups) of the ideas
  • Initial design roughs: getting ready for presentation.

c) competent production plan with timescales and budget for final ideas being presented
  • Production Plan: should include key deadlines, feedback from client, and realistic information,
  • Budget : a realistic budget should include:   Your time and any production costs and equipment hire; real advertising rates, eg Q Magazine  or for outdoors look at clear channel  Printing costs - there are lots of online digital printers like here
d) relevant risk assessment and recce

  • Please use you risk assessment and recce from your music video, unless your are taking additional pictures in which case you should update them.

M3: Learners demonstrate proficient print pre-production skills. Learners provide a detailed production plan with realistic timescales and budget. Learners’ choice of content, fonts, colours and layout for their print-based advertisement ideas effectively conveys the planned campaign message
